Food Security through Sustainable Agriculture
During the course of our survey, we have established the fact that the yield of the agriculture produce is negligible as compared to other rural areas as these people continued with primitive technique of agriculture. After creation of irrigation facilities, we have imparted extensive training to the interested farmers with better and modern technique of agriculture to achieve optimum yield from their same land by using fertilizers, insecticides etc. They have opted for the transplantation technique for paddy for the first time and were amazed after getting higher yield. Training on kitchen garden and seasonal vegetable growing were also imparted for better income generation and better livelihood. Now these farmers have started growing vegetables in both the seasons i.e., Kharif and Rabi. Many villagers of 4 villages are being benefited through this scheme.
Type of vegetables currently grown by the locals
Cabbage, cauliflower, coriander leaves, red leaves, spinach, peas, beans, radish, brinjal, tomato, potato, onion etc.
