COMMUNITY DRINKING WATER PROJECT

DEW DROP – VICTAS COMMUNITY DRINKING WATER PROJECT

Global Scenario towards safe and pure drinking water problem & Victas Foundation

• Globally approx 2,000,000,000+ people are at risk every day due to the lack of clean drinking water

• Nearly 2 million children die each year from waterborne diseases — that’s roughly one child every fifteen seconds

• About 10% of the global disease burden could be prevented by improving water supply and water resource management

• Less than 1% of the available fresh water on earth is readily accessible for human consumption

• Women and children can spend 6 hours per day collecting water from local sources that is usually unsafe for consumption

• 88% of cases of diarrhoea worldwide are attributable to unsafe water, inadequate sanitation or insufficient hygiene

• Investing in pure drinking water and sanitation would result in an added 272 million days of school attendance each year.

Every year millions of people, most of them children, die from diseases like cholera that are associated with inadequate water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WHO 2004). This was evident in 1993, when a mutant strain of cholera broke out in parts of India, Bangladesh and Thailand, killing thousands.

Diarrhea alone, the most predominant waterborne disease, causes two million deaths a year on its own, and it was estimated that 88% of this burden is attributable to unsafe water supply, sanitation and hygiene, particularly among children (WHO). In fact, according to the UN Human Development Report, half of the world’s hospital beds are occupied by patients suffering from diseases caused by not having access to safe drinking water.Safe Drinking Water

Access to safe and clean water only solves part of the problem.

Traditional solutions like bore wells and water delivered by tanker trucks are viable options for water access, but they can easily become compromised. Bore wells can become irrevocably contaminated or dry up, Victas Foundation trucking in water from non-reliable sources is neither safe nor sustainable.

A safe, clean and sustainable water supply is the only effective solution.

Victas Foundation’s immediately deployable solution purifies any available water source, effectively delivering a safe and sustainable solution to the quality crisis, one community at a time.

Water filtration and purification has been in practice for over a thousand years. From the ancient Greeks using charcoal to filter water to the widespread use of chlorine during the Industrial Revolution, water treatment has been and will continue to be vitally important to the health of the world’s population.

Victas Foundation – “Project Dew Drop”

VICTAS FOUNDATION – is probably the only non-profit making organization acknowledged globally for its contribution in providing pure & safe drinking water to urban and rural population in India and neighbouring countries. The project “Project Dew Drop” is aimed to offer safe drinking water by VICTAS FOUNDATION to serve rural and urban population at an affordable & negligible cost.

In order to provide germ, pathogen, bacteria as well as soluble contamination free water to all, VICTAS FOUNDATION wants to establish number of “Project Dew Drop” units to procure, install, maintain and upgrade latest technologies available globally. In order to serve small medium and large sections of the community, “Project Dew Drop” has various options and capacity utilization method. The final product produced through advanced GREEN technology.

“Project Dew Drop” technology which provides solutions against water related contamination:

“Project Dew Drop” uses latest provisions that cater to mass with green and environment friendly technologies. Technology implementation depends on the type of contamination and typically varies from a UV system for microbiological contamination, blending of UV and CFF for higher TDS to activated alumina for fluoride removal. VICTAS provide solutions to Microbiological contamination, higher than normal TDS, Iron, Fluoride & Arsenic.

A one-time investment provides 10,000 people access to pure drinking water:

Victas Foundation’s game-changing strategy combines the use of decentralized purification Water Health Schools in partnership with local communities to create a scalable and sustainable solution for processing healthy drinking water.

Victas Foundation believes that everyone deserves both great tasting and quality drinking water regardless of their geographical location or economic situation. As a result, Victas Foundation incorporates, where relevant, reverse osmosis technology into its purification systems to improve the taste of the water, and provides WHO-quality potable water without relying on chlorine. We also use ultra filtration and Arsenic, Iron, Manganese and Fluoride removal technologies as and when needed to provide the best-tasting water possible.

dewdrop2Our decentralized Victas Foundation Water Health Schools allow underserved communities rapid access to safe water at an affordable cost, helping solve the global challenge of waterborne diseases. It can take less than a month to build our modular Water Health Schools in a community in need. Each site is operated, managed, and maintained by Victas Foundation to ensure optimal quality and performance at all times. Our state-of-the-art technology platforms also feature remote sensing and monitoring of Victas Foundation Water Health Schools to reduce any disruption in providing safe water.

Victas Foundation also develops partnerships with health care professionals and respected community service organizations to provide outreach and education programs in the communities where we operate. In this manner, every Water Health Schools has an everyday impact on health and hygiene education.

Service and Support: “Project Dew Drop” provides a range of long-term services that enable communities to maximize the health and economic benefits of having a “Project Dew Drop” system in their locality.
