Few words from the Founders
10 years and after

Around the globe, advances in medicine, biotechnology and communication have provided unprecedented opportunities for improving people’s lives. We have enjoyed learning about the art of strategic giving from various people. We have found that giving away money in a strategic and meaningful way is as challenging, and interesting, as working in technology.

We have started Victas Foundation 10 years ago in India, with a deep rooted compassion and a shared mission that would support the millions of the poor living all over the world, particularly in India, to overcome poverty and live in dignity. During the last 10 years we have had several reasons to rejoice. We were very encouraged to see hundreds and thousands of people in across the globe join our mission, extending their generous support.

Tireless services of Victas Foundation team in the last one decade have helped millions of people in their development and attitudinal change. Through Victas Foundation, we are touching all continents and strengthening development professionals from various countries, by sharing our experience and knowledge. Well motivated, dynamic teams at Victas Foundation, are totally committed in this Mission of compassion, sharing and empowerment and are bringing tangible and sustainable results. We give our heartfelt thanks to all our donors, actors, partners and beneficiaries.

The year 2013-14 saw the India programs grow further in terms of the number and range of issues and geographical areas being addressed. Health, Education, Youth employment and livelihood continued to be major program focus areas across the program locations. In addition, Early Childhood Development emerged as a major thrust area encompassing medical care, nutritious food and quality pre-school education for the under 5 children and their caregivers. Sincere gratitude to everyone associated with Victas Foundation together we can create a society where the disadvantaged and discriminated child is supported and enabled to grow up playing an active and positive role within family, community and nation.

Past vouches for the future, we are hallowed to hope for the best in the next 10 years. While continuing our mission mainly in West Bengal, we plan to expand gradually to the adjacent States like Orissa, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Assam, and Tripura. Similarly, plans are under way to start Victas Foundation legal entity in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Ghana, Bangladesh and Philippines.

We are confident and feel energized at the thought of meeting new challenges together with the whole family of Victas Foundation. We will emerge stronger because we are committed and we believe in what we do.
