Innovative technology to maximize the services: ‘Any Time Water’ (ATW) system
After completion of installing 400 community managed Water Purification plants and reaching safe drinking water to over one million people, Victas Foundation has moved another step ahead and introduced ‘Any Time Water’ (ATW) system. A new electronic and communication device is introduced to help the villagers to draw purified water of 20 liters quantity by using simple swiping card. The new method was tested and launched in Venkatapur village on 7th April 2012. This pioneering effort is expected to make purified water accessible to the villagers throughout the day without having to depend upon the manual supply which was only available for couple of hours a day.
Results of the program: A need turned into an asset
• All the water Purification Plants are community owned, operated and managed
• Innovation and use of technology such as ATW (Any Time Water) system helps in providing easy, prompt and efficient services.
• Ensuring gender balance as men started fetching water from the plants instead of women.
• People are enjoying improved health as a result of drinking purified water.
• Able to overcome the caste divide as everyone drinks water from the common source.
• We see tremendous growth in the community leadership and increase of social capital.
