The health scenario of the west Bengal is deplorable as compared to other states of India. The state Government has enormously put earnest efforts to mitigate the problems arising out of detoriating health status of the state. Several governmental schemes have constituted to reach out to rural and urban beneficiaries in a decentralized way. With the inception of NRHM, efforts have been made to provide integrated and comprehensive health care services at the doorstep of the community with assurance of community participation. But the holistic approach could not show satisfactory result because of many traditional and socio-political constraints. Many Nongovernmental organizations have come forward to work as a mediator with the aim of reaching out the unreached.Routine Health Checkup
