The Rising Concern of Degrading Water Quality & Its Solutions

community drinking water

Water in India is under significant threat. According to a report published, 60% of groundwater sources will be in a critical state in the next 20 years. Water resources face a series of threats ranging from pollution, deforestation,  urban growth, and changes in the landscape. Humans have been a catalyst in the continuous depletion of water and now they are facing the brunt of their mistake. Amidst this, community drinking water systems are a ray of hope. These water systems provide clean drinking water to low-income communities.

Adverse Effects of Water Contamination:-

  • The contamination of drinking water is a grave issue. The concentration level of Arsenic and Fluoride are slow killers. Even people from the slums are keen on paying extra taxes after they came across an incident, where water consumed from a local pump caused serious health hazards.
  • Waterborne diseases like diarrhea, typhoid, dysentery, jaundice are quite common if drinking water is not properly treated and also, made safe for consumption.
  • Chemicals released from industrial waste generated by big factories can pose a maximum risk to health. Moreover, the release of pesticides into the water also leads to health hazards. Even the aquatic ecosystem will undergo a major disbalance.
  • Water is the best solvent and can dissolve a large variety of substances which come in its contact. Also, the correct amount of dissolved solids in water makes it useful for irrigation and consumption. However higher amounts of dissolved solids may lead to impairment of physiological systems in humans.

Thus mineral water project information aim to mitigate the challenges of water quality degradation and make clean, safe drinking water accessible to people who are still oblivious to the risks they are facing.

How to administer depleting mineral water project information and combat water contamination:-

The first and foremost step is to educate people and make them aware of the threats of using water of degraded quality. Illiteracy can kill the best possible hopes. Mineral water project information gives a fair idea about the importance of sustainable safe drinking water

Those from the socially and economically backward sector should be given access to skilling and learning.  Moreover, officials should take it in their stride to treat household water to make it germ-free and safe for drinking and irrigation purposes.

Promoting and encouraging people to have good hygiene habits. Not only it will help in keeping diseases at bay but will also contribute to a cleaner and safer environment.
